Wood and black micarta chef gyuto kitchen knife

GIVE A LITTLE LOVE

Caring for your knife is
easier than your think

Light sponge or cloth.

Warm soapy water.

Dry with a soft tea towel.

Store appropriately, without contact.

Avoid that pesky dishwasher.

All our knives should only be hand washed, it is similar to putting a Rolls-Royce in a drive through car wash, you don’t want to ruin that professional paint job.

I know this seems like an inconvenience, but it only takes 20 seconds. This will give your knife decades of life and will be alive to pass down to your grandchildren.

If someone puts your blade through the dishwasher by accident, get in touch and we can re-condition it for £60, we will cover postage.

Looking after your handle.

Your knife is built to be used, don’t keep it locked up. Just give it a little care every once in a while.

Every few months, rub handle oil into the material slowly using a clean cloth, let it dry for five minutes and then wipe off the excess. Let it dry for 24 hours. Repeat this process twice. Looking after your knife in this way will increase its lifespan.

After some time the material finish will dull, but a polish is all it needs and will bring back that shine.

Caring for your blade.

To ensure your kitchen knives stay sharp and in top condition, it is important to take proper care of them. Honing your knife should be done every day to keep the blade aligned and sharp.

Sharpening your knives should be done about every 6 months to keep the blade's edge in optimal condition. Make sure to use the correct sharpening tools and techniques for your specific knife.

Also, it is important to keep the blade clean and dry after use to patining. Following these steps will ensure your kitchen knives remain sharp and in excellent condition.

Kitchen knife personalised etching

Marking is personal

We use a process called electrochemical marking to sign your knife. This is a simple process in which a weak electric current is applied to a metal surface through a marking stencil soaked in non harmful electrolyte fluid. This is then cleaned and polished, before packaging.

This creates a permanent dark etching on the steel which cannot be removed easily. This does require some attention when cleaning. If this is constantly rubbed with abrasive material, like a sponge, its will begin to fade. We say, just be a little more gentle around the marked area.
